LA is blessed with farmers markets nearly every day of the week. Here's where to find the best produce, prepared foods, and local artisans.
Sunday: Hollywood Farmers Market
The granddaddy of LA farmers markets. Stretching multiple blocks on Ivar and Selma, this market has over 160 vendors. The stone fruit in summer is unbelievable, and the prepared food section rivals any food festival. Get the pupusas from the Salvadoran stand.
Wednesday: Santa Monica Farmers Market
This is the one where LA's top chefs shop. The Arizona Avenue location on Wednesdays has the widest selection of organic produce in the city. Arrive by 8:30am for the best selection β the chefs clear out the prime stuff early.
Thursday: South Pasadena Farmers Market
A smaller, more relaxed market perfect for an after-work shop. Excellent citrus, avocados, and a tamale vendor that routinely has a line 20 people deep. Family-friendly with a small playground adjacent.
Saturday: Mar Vista Farmers Market
A neighborhood favorite on Grand View Boulevard. Great hot food options (the Thai stall is excellent) and a strong selection of organic vegetables. The market has a real community feel with live music most weekends.
